Hi, I'm Matt Harding, the Detroit-based photographer, writer and filmmaker whose website you're on. Here, you can hire me and/or buy stuff, or just look through my portfolio.
As a photographer, I shoot a wide array of subjects, but mainly landscapes, cityscapes and musicians. While I've mostly shot digitally, a lot of my recent work is focused on various film formats, including 4x5, Polaroids and 35mm. In 2020, I founded a photo gallery and studio called auburn art gallery, which I operated until 2022.
My background is in journalism and I'm currently the assistant editor of RePlay, a trade magazine covering the amusements business. From 2021-23, I was the publisher and editor of American West, a travel magazine focused on the country's largest region. We published four issues in print; the fifth and final issue was a digital-only effort. I was also the city government and business reporter for the Yuma Sun from 2016-17 and have freelanced on numerous projects over the years.
A new endeavor for me is filmmaking. So far, my focus is on short travel films. Additionally, I offer various photo-based classes, workshops and other services. Stay tuned for more on that soon as well.
